Jennifer Moberg Pforte | Executive Director
MA, BA
Jennifer Moberg Pforte has worked in post-conflict and emerging societies on cultural development and forced migration issues, and in the private sector in international education management. After owning and operating a successful music school in Hong Kong for over 10 years, a transformative sabbatical at the Afghanistan National Institute of Music led to a total career change. She pursued a Masters in International Development, conducting her dissertation on Afghan refugees protracted in Indonesia, and transitioned into education-in-emergencies and refugee work in Afghanistan, Thailand, Pakistan, and Hong Kong. Jennifer worked with the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in Islamabad to conduct a national assessment on migration and displacement, establish the Pakistan Red Crescent's Migration and Displacement desk, and co-author the Asia Pacific Migration Network's guidance on national migration assessments.
At home here in Hong Kong, Jennifer has worked closely with the refugee and asylum seeker community for many years, running the education programme at Branches of Hope, managing the Christian Action Centre for Refugees, and establishing AidWorks, a private consultancy dedicated to helping NGOs work better and smarter.
She holds a BA in Music Performance from Houghton College, and an MA in International Development Studies from Chulalongkorn University. She is an avid lover of animals, motorcycling, travel, her growing family, and Hong Kong.
