Discrimination
Discrimination is the process of unfair or prejudicial distinctions made between people or groups based on characteristics such as gender, ethnicity, religion, age, sexual orientation, or other categories to which they belong or are perceived to belong. Sadly, many vulnerable people in Hong Kong face discrimination and often find themselves trapped in situations where they are unfairly treated and abused.

Many vulnerable people in Hong Kong face discrimination and often find themselves trapped in situations where they are unfairly treated and abused. We work tirelessly to support our clients facing discrimination by providing essential counselling support and legal services – ultimately helping them to break free from their horrible situations and help restore their dignity.
Unfortunately, discrimination typically leads to unfair treatment based on perceived statuses or categories. It can involve depriving members of one group of opportunities or privileges available to members of another group. Experiencing discrimination can lead to several stress-related emotional, physical, and behavioral changes for the suffering person or group.
Discrimination can also be damaging even if you haven’t been the target of overt acts of bias – it can be stressful just being a member of a group that is often discriminated against. Even the anticipation of discrimination can create chronic stress and people might avoid situations where they expect they could be treated poorly, possibly missing out on education, employment, or other opportunities.
